Information We Collect
My Live Translator and Tutor is designed to minimize data collection. Here is what the app handles:
- API Keys: Your OpenAI or Google Gemini API keys are stored locally in your device's secure Keychain. They are never transmitted to our servers.
- Learning Data: Your learner profile, session transcripts, flashcards, and progress data are stored entirely on your device using local storage.
- Audio Data: Voice audio is captured by your device's microphone and streamed directly to your chosen AI provider (OpenAI or Google) via encrypted WebSocket connections. Audio is not stored or transmitted elsewhere.
Third-Party Services
The app connects directly to the AI provider you configure:
- OpenAI: If you use an OpenAI API key, your audio and text data are processed according to OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
- Google Gemini: If you use a Google Gemini API key, your data is processed according to Google's Privacy Policy.
We encourage you to review the privacy policies of your chosen provider. The BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) model means you have a direct relationship with these providers — we are not an intermediary.
Data Storage
All app data is stored locally on your iOS device. This includes your learner profile, session history, flashcard decks, and preferences. No data is synced to external servers operated by us. If you delete the app, all local data is removed.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. The only data transmission occurs between your device and the AI provider you have configured, using your own API credentials.
Children's Privacy
The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
